Adelaide Cara Shares Single / Video 'Moonlit'
From their forthcoming debut album How Does This Sound, bright new Ōtepoti songwriter Adelaide Cara (Milpool) shares moving, Kate Bush-esque single 'Moonlit'. This is the third high-intensity track we've heard from How Does This Sound, following in the slip stream of ripper singles 'Eden' and 'Paranoia!' that dropped last year, after lockdown gave Adelaide Cara the time to finish their album-cum-honours degree. 'Moonlit' highlights the artist's vast vocal talent and knack for eliciting emotions through both lyrics and their massive, belter voice. Adelaide Cara and co-director Emily Crooks braved Dunedin's Ross Creek in the ethereal visual component of 'Moonlit', shooting all the glitteriest nooks and hard-to-find sun beams, with delightful costume and prop contributions from Laura Monaghan. Watch 'Moonlit' and the rest of the How Does This Sound gems live at their album release gig next month, and read what Cara had to say on the new track...
“There’s nothing quite like a naīve, melodramatic pity-party of a heartbreak in your teens. It’s ugly and beautiful all at once, from seraphic sorrow to screaming into the abyss. Juxtaposing dramatised lyrics and 80s pop song ballads with divine, shimmering instrumentation was a satisfying way to gain closure from a sad situation. ‘Moonlit’ pairs well with a tub of pomegranate sorbet and many tears.”
