Having just wrapped the single release tour for French For Rabbits' 'The Overflow', Ben Lemi (Trinity Roots, Congress Of Animals) shares a new song of his own from his solo project Dawn Diver. 'Thirsty Critters' is the third official Dawn Diver single, following Lemi's ode to his late mother on 'Rosemary', and 2019 debut 'Warming To You'.

Where Dawn Diver has been soul, jazz and funk forward on previous tracks, 'Thirsty Critters' is a little more neo-soul and pop focussed, with hints of Troy Kingi, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and even Zappa peppered throughout. Out today via Estère's new label Blue Riot Records, Lemi says the cut can be framed in two ways, as a song simply about water and what it means to us, or "an observation of the shoots and ladders which make up the current music industry and the manner by which various entities traverse these structures". Whether you're thirsty or thoughtful, there's plenty to be extracted from the latest Dawn Diver drop, with enough electrifying guitar and harmonies to quench any critter...

Dawn Diver's new single Thirsty Critters is out now on streaming services via Blue Riot Records.
