It's an oft-noted factoid that Carnivorous Plant Society's musical mastermind Finn Scholes is also an adept cartoonist and animator, spinning strangely compelling parables in his 2019 graphic novel The people below the people below and enhancing the group's live gigs with warped technicolour projections. Embarking on a launch tour for their forthcoming The Lizard EP this winter, CPS have released one of the most brilliant local music videos of this year, in the form of Scholes' imaginative animated clip for new single 'Love Monolith'.

The loneliest man in the loneliest place lives a self-indulgent life of robotically assisted luxury, before having his mind melted by the unexpected outer space visitation of the Love Monolith — all amplified by the Tex-Mex soundscape psychedelia of CPS in full flight.
