Hard-Ons (AUS) Returning to New Zealand This Winter

Hard-Ons (AUS) Returning to New Zealand This Winter

Chris Cudby / Wednesday 10th June, 2026 11:02AM

A group so legendary they earned themselves the nickname The Most Australian Band Ever!, Sydney punk pioneers Hard-Ons are finally jumping the ditch back to the land of the long white cloud. Featuring You Am I frontman Tim Rogers on lead vocal duties, Hard-Ons will be tearing it up at Tāmaki Makaurau's The Mothership and The Raglan Pub with a cast of local hell raisers. Hugely influential and mammothly popular during their initial '80s / '90s era, both in the land of 'roos and across the alt-rock universe, Hard-Ons achieved a titanic seventeen consecutive number ones on the Australian independent charts and were staples of the Big Day Out travelling mega-festival.

Once hailed as sounding like "Motörhead meets the Beach Boys", Hard-Ons combined overdriven punk rock energy, heavy metal grit and surf rock psychedelia in their own infectious style, expressed across thirteen albums so far, including their classic back-to-back run of Smell My Finger / Dickcheese / Love Is a Battlefield of Wounded Hearts / Yummy! They notably handed the mic to Henry Rollins for their 1991 amped-up cover of 'Let There Be Rock' by AC/DC, and earlier this year released a collaborative record with fellow alt-rock veterans Red Kross.

Subject of director Jonathan J. Sequeira's new documentary Harder And Harder, a direct follow-up sequel to his film about the group The Most Australian Band Ever!, join the Hard-Ons at these crucial gigs or miss out big time — brought to you by Low Tide...
