Flying Nun Appoints New General Manager
After much speculation, Flying Nun have officially announced a couple of big changes at the label. Ben Howe of Arch Hill Recordings has been announced as General Manager, taking over from Roger Sheppard who will now work as a consultant and shareholder. Howe was instrumental in getting the label off Warner back in 2009 but was cut out of the picture late in the piece. They are also relocating to Auckland to share premises with Arch Hill - "in the current environment it makes sense for labels and independent music businesses to consolidate and share resources" - a statement on the Flying Nun site reasons the move.
Flying Nun's latest release is a Pin Group reissue. Titled Ambivalence it sees all the Christchurch act’s material fully re-mastered by band member Roy Montgomery and engineer Arnold van Bussell. Compiled by Bruce Russell, the reissue features the original version of their second single ‘Coat’, plus the 12” LP includes a bonus CD of live tracks. All repackaged with reproductions of the original artwork by contemporary artist and Pin Group associate Ronnie van Hout.
Ambivalence is out now - here is the remastered title track...
