Best Coast provide more of their brand of sunny surfer rock with Fade Away, a mini album clocking in at less then 30 minutes long. Still, sometimes less is more as the seven songs here never outstay their welcome.

The opener, the punk pop loveliness that is 'This Lonely Morning' sets their agenda well. Bethany Cosentino's voice has that strength of the likes of Courtney Love but without the drama and tragedy and it fits their blend of garage rock perfectly.

Fans of the band will know the two tracks on this record that were released for Record Store Day earlier in the year. Both 'Fear Of My Identity' and 'Who Have I Become' showcase the band's obvious love for 90s power punk whilst also highlighting their affection for the girl groups of the 60s.

None of the seven tracks featured here offer a different direction for this California duo but if you loved their first two albums this is a perfect precursor to the third album next year.
