info_outline This tour has been.
Dunedin's death metal monks AYAMVOID are releasing their debut self-titled EP at Dive on Friday, 18th of September. Entry fee is $15 on the door or $10+booking fee via UnderTheRadar (available soon), supported by Russian Blue, Ronnie Stash and the Resistance and Ashes to Battle.
The EP will be played in its entirety on this evening, following is the EP's description:
\Mother Nature bears the fruit of life -- one of those fruits is mankind.
Mankind bears the fruit of chaos -- one of those fruits is the destruction of Mother Nature.\
Ayamvoid's self-titled debut EP aims to illuminate obsidian aspects of humanity and human mindset and the nature of the impact this has on themselves and their environment. Lyrically, this release focuses on disdain, thoughts of hopelessness and worthlessness, false representations of oneself and reluctant self-sacrifice -- based on the fundamental acknowledgement that all humans have the capacity to exhibit and carry these feelings and emotions.
After the guitars and bass but before the vocals were recorded, James Parsons decided to step down from Ayamvoid to be better able to pursue his own goals - this news heralded a rebirth for Robbie, Heath and Stephen resulting in the decision to decline searching for a fourth member and onset Ayamvoid continuing as a three-piece entity.
The majority of the narrative on this EP was written by James Parsons and his departure from Ayamvoid meant that Robbie and Stephen had to portray his musical intention without him. The vocal performance is a representation of this and without both James and the Dunedin metal community this release would not sound as it does now -- but neither does it sound how it was originally written.
