Tour Information
Pōneke-based Alt-Folk musician James Hunter, hot off his Sophomore EP ‘YOU’ is performing his first show of 2021, accompanied by Folk-Duo LOST BiRD, and Singer/Songwriter Betty.

All three artists are performing acoustic sets at MOON on Thursday May 20th that showcase their wide discographies and more!

James Hunter is an alternative folk musician hailing from Pōneke, New Zealand. Hunter writes, records, and produces records that are minimal in scope, but intimate through his vocal delivery. The abrupt appearance of COVID 19 allowed Hunter the chance to release Two EPs, ‘Last little While’ and ‘You’ in 2020 and 2021 respectively. Hunter’s sounds are created in narratives that allow listeners to journey with him through vulnerable places in the human soul: love, fear, faith, joy, and pain.

LOST BiRD, Compared to Bright Eyes, Tallest Man on Earth, or Richard Thompson, Ali Whitton's songs of struggle, hope, rootlessness and giving over to abandon will charm you, unsettle you a bit, and make you laugh at your own shared humanity. Everyone always mentions he opened for Ed Sheeran's series of big stadium gigs in Auckland, there was a time when Ed Sheeran used to open for him in the UK. If you've never heard LOST BiRD, well, prepare to fall in love with some songs.

Betty is a singer songwriter and has been performing for many years despite her age. She busks at the Harbourside Market regularly as well as music festivals and private gigs. To find out more about her music visit her instagram page: bettymusicnz.

*PLEASE NOTE* The gig is rated R18, but minors and those under the age of 18 are able to come with a paying parent/legal caregiver accompanying.

Doors open at 7pm, starting 7:30pm
