Finn Fair - Horror Business
Finn Fair's work crosses boundaries. Whether it is in his use of a combination of high and low art forms or in his unapologetic commentary on social and political issues, Fair's work brings his concerns to the fore. As the issues change from exhibition to exhibition music is a constant and reoccurring element in his work. In his 2007 exhibition “Horror Business”, Fair has selected arresting images from classic horror movies, layering them with quotes and song lyrics with the intention of highlighting current scientific debates of genetic engineering. “It would seem a lot of these old horror films have never been more relevant, as the themes of horror in the films becomes the science in our present times.” Among the films selected are Frankenstein and Island of Lost Souls where human tampering and man’s arrogance is reflected in current scientific debates.
