Against Me NZ tour

Against Me NZ tour

Saturday 26th April, 2008 12:00PM

Fresh from a headlining tour of Australia, Gainesville Florida's folk punk heroes Against Me! Return to New Zealand for two dates in May. Their second time to visit our shores is looking to be bigger and better than ever before.

From their early beginnings in the squats, dives and clubs of the USA to tours with the Foo Fighters and the Blood Brothers, Against Me! have a sincerity and dedication to their music that is unparalleled, taking cues from artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Pete Seeger their politically fuelled brand of punk rock refuses to be pigeonholed by the media and fans.

Touring their fourth full length New Wave and a new signing to Warner Brothers record imprint Sire, Against Me! will be bringing their own brand of folk influenced Punk Rock to a new legion of fans. As fans will attest new songs such as Thrash Unreal, Stop, and Borne on the FM waves of the heart; a duet with Tegan and Sara, represent a band who is not afraid of progression and change, yet still have the raw power and edginess that graced their earlier releases.

Rolling stone magazine named them best punk band of 2008 calling them the "definitive punk band of the Bush-Cheney era" while allmusic.com calls them "one of the most exciting and significant bands operating in punk".

These shows are not to be missed, for fans of the band, and those who are curious, Against Me! excel as one of the most exciting live acts in modern music, the unbridled passion and integrity of their live set is legendary and their second tour of New Zealand is shaping up to be a big one.
