Louis Baker, fresh from gigging as a soloist, is joined by Brady Eb (bass) and Nick Hensman (drums) to perform as the Louis Baker Trio at The Watusi on Thursday 15 April from 8:00pm. $10.00 on the door..
Louis Baker, a soul, jazz, and blues soloist, has achieved more than many in his 20 years. At age 13 he picked up the guitar, by 16 he was writing and composing, by 17 Louis’ song “Three Ladies” was a finalist in the prestigious NZ competition Play It Strange, Louis’ talent was identified again later that year winning the acoustic sessions of the NZ band competition – The Primal Youth.
Most recently Louis has focused on formalising his art studying at Jazz School in combination with regular gigs in popular Wellington venues like the San Francisco Bathhouse, Bodega and the Southern Cross culminating in a gig supporting The Feelers in January, 2010.
Louis Baker draws influence from Jeff Buckley, John Mayer and Jimi Hendrix and dreams one day of performing in hallowed arenas of these fabled musicians. From here Louis is looking forward to continuing to develop his music, and perform before an ever broadening and appreciate audience.
A man of principle, good-will, and maturity beyond his years Louis is focused on making the music he loves for people who know how to love.
