To celebrate the release of her new E.P., a collaboration with Isaac Aesili, L.A. Mitchell and her rhythm section are performing at the 1885 bar in Auckland.
About L.A. Mitchell:
With a growing reputation for her polished live act and the spectacular power of her voice, it is hard to imagine L.A.Mitchell being anything other than a soul songstress. “It was always my dream to be a musician but I didn’t feel it was possible or likely” says Mitchell. Then in 1998 a 12-month stint in Brazil, a year of overwhelming contrasts, was the experience that widened her horizons and changed her outlook on life. L. A. Mitchell returned to New Zealand with the intention of becoming a musician.
Since then she has firmly established herself in the New Zealand music scene. She opened for Stevie Wonder at both his New Zealand shows, and manages to juggle her solo career with her rock-chick -alter-ego as a member of Top 10 band Dukes. In 2009 she was named first songwriter in residence for Auckland University. Early this year she was invited by Tim Finn, Bic Runga and Dave Dobbyn to join their band for an extensive New Zealand tour
L.A. Mitchell has released two self-produced albums and is currently collaborating with Adrian Sherwood (UK) , Kevin Marktrail (UK) Isaac Aesili (NZ) and Steven Hussey, Urban Soul Orchestra (UK) on material for her next record.
