To celebrate the official launch of Lady Jane Entertainment, we have partnered with Kompakt and George FM to bring you Michael Mayer & Tobias Thomas for a not-to-be-missed Auckland-only R20 Christmas party.
Kompakt has contributed more than any other to Germanys dominance of electronic dance music this decade. The label's sonic place has always been to reach parity between deep, minimal sounds with rhythm and granular techno. it's an effective strategy that's elevated the Cologne based label to the highest of heights.
As a DJ, producer and remixer, Michael Mayer remains one of Germany's core celebrities in dance music. It's no secret that he spends his weekends traveling around the globe. It's likely throughout his career he's played in front of millions. Amazingly enough, he manages to sneak into the studio on occasion to produce his own music and remix the likes of Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Foals and Rufus Wainwright. And of course there is Supermayer. Following a string of remixes for Losoul and Geiger, the friendship and musical connection between Superpitcher and Michael Mayer reached it's fruition. Their playfulness and open spirit in music, freedom and hilarity was embraced by the public with their debut full length Save The World.
Tobias Thomas, born April 1970 in the south of Germany, is a member of the inner circle of the Cologne based electronic label Kompakt since the early nineties. He is working as a professional DJ since 1990, was involved in many cooperations & projects like Forever Sweet, Thomas/Mayer and did a number of remixes alongside Dettinger, Superpitcher, Jörg Burger, Geiger, Michael Mayer, Ada and Reinhard Voigt. As a DJ Tobias has played in more than 30 countries and on 4 continents. He has released three mix compilations, including the landmark Please Please Please.
The last time Michael Mayer & Tobias Thomas graced NZ five years ago they worked a sold out crowd into a frenzy, and they're keen to do it all again, but this time at a very, very special venue - the St Matthew-in-the-City church, a 100 year old neo-gothic traditional cathedral in the Auckland CBD, will be transformed for one night only into our very own private nightclub.
Come dressed in your best Christmas attire - the nicest, or naughtiest, will be treated to a special Lady Jane Martini on arrival.
Doors open at 10 pm until 3 am. Be sure to get there early as Michael Mayer & Tobias Thomas will be hitting the decks early. Local support from Shaveer (Nitelife 2010 Award Winner for #1 DJ) and Matt Drake.
The party is fully licenced with a full bar. EFTPOS and credit card facilities will be available.
Official after party with another Kompakt artist will be announced on the night.
