Kiwi singer Ra Charmian and producer/multi-instrumentalist Hayden Booth will be hosting a special one-night performance on Saturday, October 5th at the Live Music Venue Big Fan in Morningside Auckland, coinciding with the launch of their latest album, Waiata Wairua.
The 5 piece band includes Alistair Deverick (Neil Finn, Lawrence Arabia), Finn Scholes (Tiny Ruins, Carnivorous Plant Society), and Isaac Etimani (Keshia) and will the full Waiata Wairua album plus much more.
Waiata Wairua marks the duo’s debut studio album, and fans have already had a glimpse of its offerings through the singles ‘Papatuanuku He Ataahua Koe’ and ‘Te Aroha’, which have been featured extensively on TV and radio across Aotearoa, NZ.
Recorded at Lopdell House and their home studio in Titirangi, Waiata Wairua encapsulates the essence of a New Zealand summer with its infectious and soulful tracks. The album’s creation was fueled by Ra and Hayden’s inspiration drawn from the theme of ‘connection’—music that unites the ‘people’ and ‘whanau’.
Both award-winning artists are excited to finally unveil the album and eagerly anticipate bringing its fresh sounds to the stage. “Performing live is a tremendous privilege, especially when we can share our own music. It allows us to connect with our audience in the most authentic way possible. Our goal is to bring people together, spread positivity, and have a great time—that’s what music is all about!”
