with Drop Zone and Roy Irwin (band)
Below the thunders of the upper deep, O/PUS are Beth Dawson (guitar, vox), Jade
Farley (violin, guitar, keyboards,vox), Liz Mathews (drums, vox), and Stefan Neville
(bass, vox, recording). A band of Tāmaki punks waiting for high tide. Out at sea, the
water is deep was recorded at Stefan’s We Can Listen Back To It studio on 8 Track
and computer over 2023/24. This album brings together ten of the band’s songs,
rolling from deep sea riffing to folk dirges and manu splashes of jumping-in punk joy.
These guys have played together and apart in numerous bands of Aotearoa’s vibrant
experimental music scene, including Pumice, The Futurians, Ducklingmonster, EVIL,
The Hair Dos and NT Honey. O/PUS love hanging out together, eating kimchi, and
making music.
