Seth Boy and his quintet present a collection of original compositions and arrangements, painting a musical portrait of the Philippines: the Land of Gold and Flowers. Born in Quezon City, and growing up in Malaybalay, Pembo, and Catalina Village, Seth brings the perspectives and sounds of Pilipinas to his evolving practice as a jazz musician, and the influence of his moving to Aotearoa as a youth.
This concert will feature native folk melodies and rhythms, Filipino popular classics, and original tunes written about concepts relating to his heritage and upbringing.
