Blackleaf Gardens
Recently released their debut EP which will be available for purchase at this event. They also recently won Keep it Loud on Black Out on The Flat.
Blackleaf Gardens are a five piece Experimental/Progressive/Heavy Metal band Hailing from West Auckland, New Zealand. Bringing Crushing riffs, groovy tunes and chaotically progressive rhythmic sounds strung together with catchy bipolic vocals delivering screams to lullibies. Centered on the exploration of the mind, freedom of the body from politics and expansion of the soul Blackleaf Gardens brings you an explosive and bizzare stage presence to remember...

The concept for Blackleaf Gardens was conceived years ago between the guitarists and childhood friends Bill and Josh. Because of other projects and lack of interest from other musicians, the idea lay dormant in the minds of the two... Until now. Equipped with a mutual vision and a passion for progressive musical experimentation, the members of the band have fully realised this concept and made it a reality. Our music shakes the bones like an earthquake, confuses your mind like psychoanalysis, makes you whimper like being trapped in a graveyard at midnight on Friday the 13th and soothes the soul like a tranquil double rainbow. Different music written by different people.

Broken Season
Auckland based, 4-peice Groove/Metal Band.
Have recently reformed with some of the original members - except they have mostly all swapped instruments. They all come from different backgrounds (including South America and the Pacific Islands) so mix this with their joint passion for Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Keep an eye on these guys they are going to explode very soon! They are also competing in the NZ Battle of The Bands and have gotten thru to the next round!

Dead Teach the Living
Dead Teach the Living are a five piece act based in Auckland looking to create something different in the metal scene. Taking guidance from old school metal, punk and the more obscure side of music they are creating gruelling tracks, loaded with substance. Dead Teach the Living remember two ideas seemingly forgotten in most modern metal; 'there's no need to downtune if the riffs themselves are heavy' and 'melody doesn't have to be sweet'. Their energetic and theatrical live show is a spectacle to behold with a huge effort made to ensure every show is different and exciting.

Dead Teach the Living are currently working on their debut album.
Come have a beer with us after a show :D

Scaphist
Mankinds atrocities and accomplishments manifested into a formidable and unforgivably evil expression of Black/Death Metal. Scaphist, inspired by the majestic past of Ancient Iran/Persia and modern extreme music brings in artistic Phrygian & Dissonant atmospheres alongside harshness, speed and aggression with lightning fast kicks, powerful vocal anthems and crushing guitar motifs to create a unique blend of black and death metal mostly unheard of in their clean green home country of New Zealand. Mostly.
Description
SCAPHIST formed as a death metal side project in 2008 by founding members Phil Oli and Harry. After several lineup changes the band aquired Adam on Drums and Wynand on Guitar in late 2009. Rehearsal began early 2010 and a number of shows were played in Auckland, Hamilton & Rotorua. 'MAJESTIC SEAL OF ANTIQUITY' was released for free download March 2011. Dylan as frontman was aquired in the same month. Currently with a stable 5 piece lineup SCAPHIST is perfoming more shows and has an EP entitled 'SUNSET AQUISITION' lined up for release in 2012

Downfall of Humanity
Downfall of Humanity is a five piece melodic metal band. We take influence from a range of bands, such as Trivium, System Of A Down, Dethklok, 8 Foot Sativa and Machine Head. We write heavy music, but work hard to keep it interesting with memorable melodies. We prescribe you a healthy dose of solos, harmonies, meaty bass... a mix of technical and powerful drums, both clean and screamed vocals. Watch out for a bit of on-stage craziness... and prepare to sample some tasty heavy metal from the depths of West Auckland!
