Three of N.Z’s finest musicians the 'Black Soap Boys' are presenting an acoustic set of their extensive original repertoire encompassing, Rock, R&B, Blues, Gospel, Ballad and Country.
'Black Soap Boys' are Rick Bryant, Gordon Spittle and Chris Grosz, playing their own country blues based songs and some classic covers from early Dylan to Memphis Jug Band.
Rick Bryant has been described as “NZ’s biggest voice in soul music” and “Kiwi rocks finest singer”. Rick is both singer and songwriter and has been performing for more than forty years, extensively touring Aotearoa.
Chris Grosz has lived overseas for quite a bit of the time since he was in the unforgettable and historic Christchurch lineup “The Band of Hope” in the late 1960s, and “The Mad Dog Jug Band” in Auckland in the 70’s. Since then he has been active in the Melbourne acoustic blues scene, and a member of Whangarei based electric blues band “Smokestack.”
Gordon Spittle has been writing songs since the 1960s, and performed with Dunedin bands Pussyfoot and Lutha. For the last few years he has collaborated with Bryant, writing songs for the upcoming Rick Bryant and the Jive Bombers album Black Soap from Monkeyburg.
