Gig Information

Welcome back to SPRAWL – Auckland’s club night dedicated to High Resolution Drum and Bass.

Don’t get sidetracked with cheap imitations, 36DEEP promises to bring nothing but the finest selectors with the freshest beats for your auditory pleasure.

After a cracking first round hosting Teknik, we’ve been scouring the country for someone suitable to step up and take on the mantle… and we’ve found him..

FIS (WELLINGTON - EXIT RECORDINGS / SAMURAI / HAUNTED AUDIO)

Known for his truly unique take on electronic music, Mr FIS is a man of few words… preferring his music, and latest signings to do all the talking.

Championed of late by none other than longtime badmen dBridge (Exit) & NZ’s own Presha (Samurai) – FIS has shocked drum and bass connoisseurs with off kilter beats, oft unquantised rhythmic deployments and a huge lungful of fresh air. Set to rustle a few feathers with a 6 track EP set to drop on the mighty Exit Recordings (home of Marka, and a host of other essential pressings), and off the back of the gargantuan “duckdive” EP on Samurai Horo – we’re proud to present Mr FIS on his first performance in the 09. Get ready for a serious set of sonic deconstruction suitable for the sea/dance floor.

Be sure to check his recent interview with Resident Adviser - (http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature.aspx'1580),

Support on the night from..

DJ ORPHAN (Hiphop)

Luke B aka DJ Orphan hails from Auckland, NZ.
Multidimensional, being an exceptional DJ/Producer and Engineer. He's opened for acts such as DJ Rectangle, DJ Revolution, Kurtis Blow, S.A.S Major flavors 4, and Official After parties such as RZA, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, 50cent/Gunit to name a few...
Holding down residencies at the original Fu Bar, Bass Bar, Shadows, Sobar & more recently last year bringing you REWIND a weekly Old Skool HipHop night at Ginger Minx with Manuel Bundy...

Playing Old Skool HipHop & all things nice, expect classics & phat beats with NO crunk, deepsouth or just mainstream HipHop shit...

MERGE

Merge has supported an extensive number of international stars including London Elektricity, DJ Friction, Break, DJ Hype, Andy C, Black Sun Empire, Chase & Status, Lynx and many more. He has also played alongside local big hitters Concord Dawn, Bulletproof, Upbeats, Tokyo Prose, Cern, Consequence and others.
He has held shows on BaseFM and BooshFM, and frequently features as a guest on other stations, as well as holding a residency DJ position at Fu Bar & Zen for several years.
He was also the man behind NZ’s longest running vinyl-only dnb weekly at Fu Bar, “Waxd”. Transversing all sub-genres and exploring all corners of drum & bass, Merge’s sets keep audiences moving. Versatile and all-sound-encompassing, this DJ has become known as a force to be reckoned with in the national scene.

EVADE

Evade has an 'eternal itch' for the rolling, bouncy, old-school infused drum and bass beats, dark rolling baselines and snares to make your skin bounce. She has featured on lineups and has played alongside some heavyweight internationals Cause for Concern, Black Sun Empire, Evol Intent, Ant TC1 (Dispatch Recordings), Skeptical and featured on lineups with some of New Zealand's heavyweights Cern, Teknik, Concord Dawn, Bulletproof and State of Mind. Evade is also part of the Thamest Coast DnB and Fishing Crew, playing annually on the beautiful coast alongside Agent Alvin and many talented others.
Evade can be caught ripping d-floors apart at Auckland's most prolific DnB clubs as well as countless other venues around the country. She is also on the move towards production so keep your eyes and ears peeled, Evades future is looking bassheavy.

CHAPTER

Chapter is that guy with the beard. Being first exposed to the DnB scene in his hometown, Cape Town, in the mid-90s he fell head-over-heels for the elements involved in the formation of the dnb sound.
The Mashup Mafia would be his introduction to stepping behind the wheels of steel in 2006, and has featured on international lineups for Redeyes, S.P.Y, and Bungle. It's not often that Chapter steps out to play to an audience, so get your dancing crocs ready for some warm and big basslines, and crisp snares and percussion.

STANDARD $10 DOOR PRESSURE.

DOORS OPEN AT 10PM.
SUPER LIMITED RUN OF SPRAWL SHIRTS AVAILABLE ON THE NIGHT.
