MUM is proud to present New Zealands best purveyors of melancholic, alternative pop, all under one roof on one night!
Deer Park: this Auckland band released their excellent album Walk Into The Sea back in 2010 and have been busy building up a reputation for expansive and engaging live shows, to the point where theyve just been announced as a Laneway 2013 artist. So come down and see Deer Park in an intimate environment and learn the songs before the craziness at Silo Park next January.
Dear Times Was
te: Claire Duncan is the intelligent, provocative singer/songwriter behind Dear Times Waste. She writes the kind of songs that evoke incredibly visceral worlds: whether that be a dusty, soothing library or the expanse of the great outdoors. She has just released her new album, Some Kind of Eden and - inspired by the likes of Milan Kundera - its a powerful interpretation of a set of very human yet very abstract ideas. Just casually.
Watercolours: Chelsea Jade Metcalf has been writing beautiful pop music for a while under various monikers. Her latest solo project is Watercolours and the singles like Under suggest Metcalf has truly started to unlock her creative capabilities both as a songwriter but as an art director of the overall Watercolours aesthetic: photographer, videographer and all.
Crashes: Is the new project of ex Rifles and now Chalk Horses frontman Thom Brown. We have no idea what it sounds like and considering Brown splits his time between noisy, post punk bands and the loung-y Gentlemen project, it really could be anything. Excited!
ALSO: theres something a bit special about the posters this week. If you look closely, the deer has seven hoofs, and on the bottom of each hoof is a little tab that you can pull off, bring along to Cassette and use to get into the show for free! Excellent right! Four bands for free!
These posters will be up in all cafes along K-Road and most along Ponsonby Road as of next Tuesday.
