Gig Information

Julian Temple Band are at it again! This summer 2012/2013 the now-quartet internationally release their fourth long player album “Upsidedownbackwards”. To promote the work, JTB hit the road at the end of December and tour through January starting in the the deep southn and making their way to the far north, ticking off eighteen gigs on the way. The band are touring in conjunction with Handcarved Productions to promote the Catlins River Festival, held Easter weekend, 2013.

The new line-up includes violin, bass, drums, guitar and vocals taking the music down a slightly-gypsy-jazzy-bluesy path. With four albums in six years under their belts and having toured both nationally and internationally for the last ten, JTB are hitting the nail on the head at every last beat, infecting audiences with their high-energy live shows everywhere they go. Do not miss this band!

Reviews:
“Like the loudest blues band in the world whispering” - Zeitgeist, UK.

“With an inquisitive eye and fantastic storytelling, the San Fran-Kiwi seizes vignettes of life and wrings the hell out of them. Julian Temple's right hand is the key, tenderly caressing his beloved acoustic one moment, dishing out a hiding the next - the perfect accompaniment to his often pained vocal interplay. Dunedin's finest musical import.” - Otago Daily Times, NZ.

“Quite the showmen with a rambunctious live show.” - The New Times, USA

“Julian Temple has an organic sense of feel that could only come from an artist that has released three albums, and tirelessly toured the country for close to a decade. Uneven verse lengths, unconventional timings and strange song structures, but in a way that sounds natural and uncontrived - the unfathomable mathematics of the ocean.” - Groove Guide, NZ

“It sounds extraordinary. You can't predict the songs. In each moment something new.” - Radio Heerde, Netherlands

“A distinctive and original sound - an interesting step forward in music” - KIX FM, Australia

“Undeniably the combination works. Very interesting and highly listenable.” - NZ Musician Magazine, N.Z.

“What a sound! The musical interplay is truly excellent.” - Highlands FM, Australia

“Temple's howling blues & soul inspired vocals rip through the listeners with the type of pained singing and lyrics that come from a man who has walked his fair share of hard yards.” - Dunedinmusic.com, NZ
