BLACK BREATH / COLD WORLD ONE OFF NEW ZEALAND SHOW 2013
Black Breath emerged from dark basements and dive bars in the belly of Bellingham, Washington in 2005. Bored by the region’s apathy towards trenchant and punishing music, they combined elements of punk and metal with doses of the garage rock of their hometown. Their sound is acutely classic without being painfully retro; a ripping blend of Entombed, Celtic Frost, Poison Idea and Discharge.
Following a series of demos and a chain of below the radar tours across the USA, the band relocated to Seattle. Without even unpacking the van, Black Breath churned out the “Razor to Oblivion” EP on their own Hot Mass imprint; before signing to Southern Lord for their 2010 debut album “Heavy Breathing”. “Sentenced To Life” projects an even more vile, metallic sonic attack than it’s predecessor… the record features equal regiments of Swedish death metal, American heavy metal and sheer blasphemy.
Cold World have turned heads all over the globe as one of the few bands successfully incorporating a heavy hip hop / rap influence to their hard riffing punk hardcore sound. Seeing them do everything from collaborations with underground gangster rapper Sean Price to headlining world renowned hardcore festivals over the globe.
This April will see both Black Breath and Cold World make their maiden voyage to NZ shores for this one off line up.
