'Tunes of I' are a six piece band from Wellington, Aotearoa (NZ). Forming in 2011 they have since recorded a four track EP w...ith Warren Maxwell (Fat Freddy's Drop, Trinity Roots, Little Bushman). A collective mash of dub, funk, rock, soul, jazz and reggae has most recently placed Tunes of I first in Wellington Battle of the Bands 2012, 2nd in National Battle of Bands and made them recipients of the 'Emerging Artist' award at the Waiata Maori Music Awards 2012. Tunes Of I will give you a powerhouse rhythm section, lush harmonic textures, tight horn lines backed with powerfully soulful vocals and harmonies.
Tunes Of I have been running at full pace the last month. Having just completed their first national tour packing out venues from Auckland to Christchurch they are now back home and hitting the studio this coming week to record a new EP. Following their last day in studio they will be performing live at the Southern Cross. Expect to hear Tunes of I at the top of their game for this gig.
