To celebrate being back in his home country during NZ Music Month, Eden Mulholland and band will be performing at Puppies with support from local act Ed Zuccollo and Guests. Fresh from a sell out release show in Melbourne Eden will be performing songs from upcoming debut record FEED THE BEAST, including the catchy I WILL ECHO, which you may have heard on the radio or TV recently - it has featured in the Top 10 on Radio Active, #1 on RDU and #1 on KIWI FM. FEED THE BEAST is due for release June 7.
Eden’s EP Jesus don’t you get my jokes EP, summarized by one reviewer as being “enough to give you major goosebumps”. His music has been variously described as “expansive and epic”, “haunting” and “fantastical”, and his style has been compared to Brian Eno, Cloud Control, Losing Myself and Atlas Genius.
Eden’s take on the pop music of the future comes complete with strange voices, ripped apart rhythms, momentary flashes from ethereal orchestras, and all with a complete disregard for genre boundaries. It may well be that Eden’s less conventional path in music - he formerly was a contemporary dancer - has helped shape his experimental approach to composition.
Eden is also the singer and writer for popular group Motocade, who have regularly toured NZ and overseas including CMJ festival, Homegrown, Rhythm & Vines and the Big Day Out. The song Tightrope Highway featured in MGMs 2012 film Cabin in the Woods. Their single Holy Moly featured heavily on Home and Away and Hamish & Andy TV, also appearing in American series Life Unexpected. Holy Moly spent 8 weeks in the top 40 charts in NZ. Their highly anticipated return to the music scene is set for 2014 with the brand new album Science Fiction.
