Gig Information

On Saturday 10 August “Not Dead Yet Promotions” presents the following four bands at Churchills Live Music Venue at 441 Colombo St, Sydenham. Free entry from 9:00pm.

At 9:30 sharp the first band on stage will be WhEn PeTs AttaCk! with their eclectic mix of tunes that include “Yuck, your Kid is Ugly”, “Kim Jung Un Love Machine”, ”Panda Hunt” along with classics like “Kim Kadashian's Love Child”. The band is primarily a vehicle for the dark humour of guitarist Paul Goodshorts. ‘WhEn Pets AttacK!® are New Zealand’s third best satirical/glam/punk Gods (The previous 3rd best broke-up a couple of months ago). Self-prescribed inventors of the whole new musical genre of ‘dementia rock’. Probably best known for their avant-garde YouTube videos, the band reluctantly play their global mega-hits live only because they enjoy collecting the intimate clothing of middle-aged female audience members. More a cult than even say The Mormon Tabernacle. Cult leader Paul Goodshorts was dropped as a baby making him best suited to guitar. He will perform alongside country & western heart-throb Manual Transmission on Bass and Banjo, with Dave Fails on Drums and electric triangle; last and least, Errol Gruntfuttochs will be up front on vocals as the band is unable to find a real singer (but are currently running ads in The N.Z Truth Personal Section to find a proper one).

The next band up will be Flange. This will be the debut performance for a band that has erotic dreams of becoming the new evangelists of sleaze rock. Come one, come all, come worship at the Altar of Flange. G Man of Flange is very quick to point out that they already have more than double the 'Likes' on Facebook than WhEn Pets AttacK! The experienced pro's in this band have established an impressive pedigree. The band has a preoccupation with subjects that will keep sociologists in a state of confusion over the coming decades. The band members currently consist of Helga Von Trollop (ex Swamp Donkeys, Babels & Nunsfart), drummer G Man (ex Swamp Donkeys, Snuffbox & Lunar 4), Phylicia (ex Prosthetic Heads) who, like a Brazilian footballer, only uses one name – and lastly, Mikel (ex Mig21, Snuffbox & Zero). Not for the faint hearted.

Teenage heart-throb's Dezarc play their second live show since first forming in 2003. They recorded “The Chicken Song' and then broke up in 2004. The band reformed in April 2011, mainly in response to the earthquakes that jolted Braden into writing the lyrics for 'Chemical Toilet' (almost 2000 hits on YouTube) and 'Cortina'. The band have had the good fortune of working with the highly talented Cordelia Woods in creating their videos. Their latest creative video masterpiece being 'Sonar Attack'. Drummer Noah Van Dezarc did performance music at Cashmere High School where his band achieved local Rock Quest recognition getting 2'nd in the 'most original song' category 3 times over the years – some could say always the bridesmaid, never the bride. In between years Braden O'Dezarc continued jamming in a band that played solely 'System of a Down' covers while singer/guitarist Jimmy McDezarc played duets in Melbourne - before returning to NZ.

Closing act, high energy young upstarts Redgrave Manor promise to knock the socks off anyone left standing. The quality of their music is evident by the songs available on their FaceBook page. Originally the band used to just party at a house on Redgrave Street that was called Redgrave Manor, they subsequently adopted the name for their band. Brothers Josh and Jordan Gow are the latest additions to the line up, on bass and drums respectively. The band were down to open for Deez Nuts on their 'NZ Hustle 2013 tour' and have also played with Averia and Witching Hour. 'Broken Walls' is the first single from their EP released back in May. Free download available from their FB page. Young and furious – Redgrave Manor are a band going places.
