With their debut album, The Mancunian Swing, set for release through MUZAI Records on August 23rd and a bit of a reputation for their live shows (having opened for the likes of Die! Die! Die!, Villany, Blacklistt and countless others), Wellington trio HOLLYWOODFUN DOWNSTAIRS once again hit the road in support of this occasion.
The Mancunian Swing may boast the cocky swagger of a Brit 'geezer'. but it's semi-biographical concept about a day in the life in London isn't all decadence and Hoxton charm. This is more Trainspotting than it is 24 Party People, as the hazy highs are a mere compliment to the crashing come down....
With singles Colors of Soho and Fuzzy currently released, they are just part of a more intricate story Kurt, Grant and Tim present with their debut - it's an album that runs a gamut of drug-elicited pleasures, and drug-elicited horrors, all set to the spazzy style of musicianship many have grown to love, and hopefully more to follow.
