Gig Information

Signed to Third Man Records by label boss Jack White, Pokey LaFarge heads for the very first time to New Zealand from his home in St. Louis, Missouri in March 2014.

Pokey LaFarge's blend of old time country, swing and pre-WWII blues has won him admirers across the globe. Described by MOJO as the performer who’s ahead of the game right now Pokey tours with a five-piece backing band, his larger than life stage presence propelling his cohorts onwards making each night a great night. If this band can’t get you to swing the dancefloor, nothing will!

While Pokey’s self-titled new album has united critics in their praise, it's onstage where he and the band truly shine. After live dates with Jack White, The Raconteurs, Wanda Jackson and Old Crow Medicine Show, and performing at every level from back street bars to the biggest venues and festivals, their live act is honed to near perfection. In smaller spaces their energy is infectious - a rip roaring force of superb musicians fronted by a true showman.

His songs have been featured on TV shows such as Boardwalk Empire and movies such as the score of The Lone Ranger while he's appeared on Grammy nominated albums like Jack White's Blunderbuss, and top-rated shows like David Letterman and Later With Jools Holland. Last year, Pokey was honoured with a second consecutive Best Americana Album win at the Independent Music Awards.

Pokey LaFarge is a man on a mission, encouraging audiences worldwide to think differently about what it means to celebrate musical traditions. Simply put, Pokey explains, “It’s not retro music. It’s American music that never died.”
