Four distinctive songwriters take to the stage in an evening of original music as part of the 1st ever Folk Fortnight festival.
Kirsten Taylor has lent her crystalline vocals to many other artists, most recently appearing at the Auckland Folk Festival & Chronophonium. Tonight she showcases her own intelligent, beautifully constructed & soulfully performed material.
Roland Brown of Wellington band Boxcar Rattle moved up to Auckland last year & hit the ground running. Late last year he released a solo EP The Adventures of a Small Town Witch, described as a stripped back country affair.
Scott J Mason has also spent time embellishing other musicians work as a percussionist & backing vocalist. Here he steps out from behind the kit with his soaring voice performing his alluring, emotive songs.
Callum Gentleman tells stories. Those stories usually come out as songs. Songs about good people doing bad things, & bad people who try to be good (they often fail). The Gentleman also puts on a show called Snakeskin Suitcase.
