These three bands have long been admirers of each others sound and ska ethic , and finally they are getting together on the same stage to give you a night of uninterrupted SKA, that will leave you fully charged on skank!
Battle-Ska Galactica are stalwarts of the Wellington Ska scene, having been around for ages, and featuring ex members of The Offbeats and Skapa, they know their ska. A blazing horn section and razor sharp rhythm section with songs that you just can’t shake, they take old-school Jamaica ska and UK 2-Tone and blend it into their own Aotearoa Super-Skank ska style.
Battle-Ska Galactica will be celebrating the return from New York City of their keyboardist and Vocalist Dayle Jellyman, and can’t wait to skank it with him and with you!
Skapiti are the West Coast’s finest ska act. Hailing from Paekakariki, they have a take on Ska that is basically a party waiting to happen. Fresh from releasing their debut album, they will be presenting a mash up of Coastal good time ska that will have the most hardened bar flies skanking with their pint.
On the other end of the ska spectrum, Dimestore Skanks represent the punk element of ska. Also fresh from releasing their debut album “Best Revenge”, they deliver blistering high-energy ska-punk in the vein of Rancid, The Ramones et al. and once they start they don’t let up! Horns, buzz-saw guitars, attitude aplenty and an underlying ska groove that you can’t ignore.
