If you're feeling a little seaweedy cast away that sandy shell this summer and lend your ears to Daniel Madill as he wields his funked up lo-fi blend of psych-folk/blues. Sounds to get you moving your feet and thinking your brain. Madill's Summer Tour 2015 will see him take the stage on both Islands with his new E.P, 'Diatom'.
Madill was a regular on the Dunedin music scene, performing as a soloist and fronting local bands The Peeling Room and The Painted Ocean before recently shifting to the shaky ground of Christchurch. He has shared the bill with the likes of The Tattle Tale Saints, The Eastern and Shunkan.
With influences ranging from 60's Psychadelia to Chicago blues and damp dark rooms in Dunedin,
Madill's songwriting contains absurdist wordplay filled with neoliberal nightmares. His songs will gently roll over you like a cool breeze on a summers day, but with enough edge to unsettle you out of your slumber.
