Gig Information

If you were to tell me four years ago when I was writing the first hate filled edition of Tauranga Music Sux that I would empty my words by going on to make friends with pretty much everyone I'd previously debased, I would have laughed. But here we are, Tauranga Music Sux is turning 4. And I'm living a lie.

So come celebrate 1 year of brutal honesty and then 3 years of playing pretend in order to get things done.

Brought to you by the National Jizz Fest and coming to you from deep within Jizz Village at Taurangas finest art gallery and creative workshop The Incubator we bring you the Tauranga Music Sux 4th Birthday Celebration.

With:

Greg Malcolm: Known more in Europe than his homeland for his unique style of guitar playing, sound scaping and composition Greg now calls Ohope home. Thus we are lucky enough to get to see the performance of a man too talented to be regarded by ignorant New Zealanders like you. Catch him before he too realises this and flees back to Berlin or wherever people get actually him.

Pumice: Like Greg, Pumice is an artist far better known overseas than in his native land. An on going entity since the early 90's, Stefan Nevilles work with Pumice is New Zealands finest example of Lo-Fi outsider alternative folk. In other words it is some weird ass shit. Long have I waited to see this man. Please do not talk to me during his set.

Edward Gains: NZ lo-fi champion and our answer to Roky Ericksons batshit crazy 80's phase has just moved to Tauranga. A move he will soon regret, but for now we are lucky to call this man one of us. Come see this man belt out primitive rock n' roll songs of the creepiest order and then try and rip them off because they are so fucken catchy.

Zig Beatnik: For two reasons there would be no finer choice as the Tauranga representitive for this celebration than Zig Beatnik. Firstly because his music is also starnge as fuck. And secondly because the formative steps for what would become TMS were taken sitting around in Ziggys dining room listening to his fine selection of CDs while bitterly complaining why this town was so fucken arse circa 2009-2010.
