Chapter Music + Flying Out present Twerps NZ Tour
With local support from Terror Of the Deep + HEX
Melbourne guitar pop foursome Twerps make a long overdue return to New Zealand for a quick two-date tour in February. It's the first time the world-conquering jangle pop quartet have played in New Zealand since Camp A Low Hum in 2009, and a lot has happened since then!
The band have been touted everywhere from Billboard to the New Yorker, and received a Pitchfork Best New Track on each of their two albums Twerps (2011) and Range Anxiety (2015). Range Anxiety was released by Chapter Music locally (distributed in NZ via Flying Out), and Merge Records (Arcade Fire, Teenage Fanclub, the Clean etc) outside Aus/NZ. The album made it into end of year lists for the likes of Newsweek, Buzzfeed and Huffington Post.
Twerps have visited the US four times, and made their first trip to Europe this year, playing Primavera festival in Barcelona and Porto amongst others. They've toured with the likes of Real Estate, Mac Demarco, Kurt Vile, Belle & Sebastian, War On Drugs and many more.
It's surprising that Twerps have taken so long to get back to NZ - they have an enduring love for NZ music, and guitarist Julia McFarlane is actually a Kiwi, well-remembered for her time in Wellington dirge punks Batrider.
But whatever the reasons, they're back now, and you have two opportunities to catch them in February - don't miss out!
