UK79 - A Post Punk Tribute

A post-punk tribute celebrating Britain's finest hour (year) in music!

After the success of last years UK79 show in Wellington’s legendary Bodega, we’re back for a 3 date tour of Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch!

Featuring

Permanence - Joy Division covers
Wazzo Clash
Gen 77

Christchurch’s Permanence was formed in late 2008 to initially perform a one off show of Joy Division covers. The response was so great they have played numerous shows since, but sadly the UK79 tour will be their last ever shows - catch them while you can....

"..My initial reservations concerning authenticity, nostalgia and generally feeling ancient are thrown out the window, however, by the technical and artistic brilliance of this band – called Permanence.."
Matt Davey, The Press, 17/7/09

Wazzo Clash have roots deep in Wellingtons post punk history. As Wazzo Ghoti (Fish), they formed in 1985 and were an integral part of the Wellington scene for years. (They releasing their debut album “Gone Ghoting” in 1988) In recent times they have fully embraced their love of The Clash by periodically performing a stellar set of songs, brilliantly enhanced by the presence of former Head Like A Hole drummer Mark Hamill.

Gen 77 are three misfits from the Hutt Valley united by a love of punk and indie music. They aim to make every gig harder, faster and more chaotic...
Their set includes some great songs from the era by the lIkes of The Undertones, The Ruts, The Stranglers, SLF and The Buzzcocks.
