On Sunday the 17th of July our special guests are Ebony Lamb and Jason Johnson of Eb + Sparrow.

Eb & Sparrow might hail from Wellington city New Zealand, but their heart and musical home is set firmly in the country.

With their pastoral, expansive ballads, rollicking good-time songs, and a few tear inducing torch burners thrown in for good measure, the five piece led by Ebony Lamb have been travelling up and down the country for the past three years. Slowly making their way to each and every town that’ll have them, they’ve been winning over New Zealand audiences not only with their songs, but also with their cheeky wit, oft hilarious tales, and dynamite performances.

The hard working band have been gaining a glowing reputation having opened for a string of international acts including folk star Beth Orton (UK), the sugar man himself Rodriguez (USA), and Pokey LeFarge (USA). Their constant touring has led them to perform alongside local legends including The Eastern, Marlon Williams, Delaney Davidson, and The Warratahs.

with an edge that harks back to old time jazz and blues singers
Tom Cardy - Dompost

'an extraordinary showcase of originality and musicality, which stands out in the current New Zealand landscape
Barry Saunders - Warratahs

Ebony Lamb is blessed with more than just a poetic name. She has the voice of woodsmoke and honey, and it's the commanding feature of the self-titled debut album
Nick Bollinger - Listener

cinematic Western themes, rustic folk and dreamy Americana on its debut album, weaving a many-hued tapestry that is held together by the songwriting and vocal strength of frontwoman Ebony Lamb
Shane Gilchrist - Otago Daily Times

This first full lengther is a beautiful - if melancholy - sign of confidence
James Belfield - Sunday Star Times

I was taken somewhere else, maybe somewhere close to Twin Peaks but via a small Parisian bar
Jamie McPhail - Rogue Stage Review
