Anna Heinz and Carol Rose Gorgeous Harmonies And Yummy Guitar

Anna Heinz and Carol Rose have been jamming and performing together for 20 years now, but mostly as two of the five members of the Nelson group Cairde. For many years they have talked about putting together a duo act and here they are, they’ve done it!
Anna grew up in a musical family and began playing guitar as a child. She took up bass in her father’s dance band as a teenager, an experience that developed her ability to switch parts and listen to everything at once! She still plays both instruments and when performing solo, has an eclectic repertoire of serious and humorous material.
Anna was once known as half of the Christchurch-based duo Msconceptions, with Val McKenzie. More recently, she has been performing with husband, Peter Gale, who is also a guitarist and singer.
Carol also plays guitar, double bass and sings lead and harmonies. She has been a solo performer for more than 25 years and in 1992, produced an album called “From the Porch”, under her former name of Carol Palmer.
Carol loves many kinds of music but has a particular love of country music. Every New Year, she and her husband Stephen Rose host the Tui Farm Folk Festival on their property just outside Nelson. They are also founding members of the Dun Mountain Distillery Bush Band.
Together, Carol and Anna bring a range of songs from their collective histories, incorporating gorgeous harmonies and yummy guitar parts.

Peter Gale
Pete was born in England but spent much of his childhood and early adulthood in New Zealand. He took up music in his teens and went on to play in a number of bands doing Rhythm and Blues, Rock n Roll, Country and all sorts of other stuff. His earliest personal influences were people like Gordon Lightfoot, Pentangle, Dylan etc.
Pete has done some semi-professional playing and belonged to various Folk Clubs both in New Zealand and the UK. About 18 years ago he finally took up a serious habit of Folk and Acoustic music styles.
Since then Pete has been further influenced by musicians like Stan Rogers, Mick Hanly, Joni Mitchell and UK duo, Show of Hands. He has developed a style of playing which combines acoustic style guitar work with his strong singing voice to present songs which have a “bit of substance” to them. Pete likes songs which tell a story and evoke an emotion.
These days, Pete is living in Nelson where he is married to Anna Heinz. He and Anna play music together and in this concert Anna will do some harmonies and support accompaniment for Pete.
