Gig Information

Multi award winning Māori Music Artist Rob Ruha is set to undergo his largest nation-wide tour of Aotearoa in September 2016 to showcase works from his incredibly popular debut album PŪMAU that peaked at number 2 on the Itune Album Charts. Rob has performed all over the world to diverse audiences, venues & festivals and says it’s high time for PŪMAU to have its own pride of place here at home. “This nation-wide tour has been on the cards for a while now. Aotearoa has been so supportive and has embraced my music. I feel it’s the right time”.

“PŪMAU means enduring, steadfast and solid. The themes of the waiata are things that occupy an enduring space in my heart and are topics that I think have intergenerational relevance and importance for the wellbeing of our people” says Rob. The messages in Robs songs are powerful and provocative yet through thoughtful lyric, upbeat and well-crafted music are masterfully presented, “I want to offer Aotearoa an unforgettable experience: fun, moving, musically inspiring, warm, inviting, entertaining and comfortable enough for us all to engage with the content of my waiata, including themes we sometimes put in the ‘too hard’ basket.”

Rob welcomes all members of the family & community to the Rob Ruha Pūmau Tour 2016
and says that the show is for everyone. “We don’t want anyone to miss out! Whānau, rangatahi, visitors to Aotearoa, music enthusiasts, Pākeha, Māori, my Polynesian cousins and even my Scottish uncles come on down lol! There is something for everyone in the show.”

Committed to supporting new and local talent, Rob Ruha will be joined by various special guests as he tours the country. These include the heart melting vocals of Maisey Rika, Seth Haapu, Te Karehana Toi-Gardiner (emerging artist of the year, Waiata Māori Music Awards 2015), and the powerful soul vibes of Ora Taukamo (winner of Homai te pakipaki, 2015) to name a few. Local musical hero’s and breathtakingly amazing youth groups will also share the stage with Rob. Topped off by his own live Pūmau band, made up of a hand selection of New Zealand’s finest musicians. Rob Ruhas tour is a show not to be missed. “I can’t wait for the country to hear what we have been pulling together for the show.
