Young, local jazz practitioners, the talented teenage quintet Good Vibes (previously Mini Men) are no strangers to Hallertau, though this is their first appearance under their new moniker.
Mentored by Auckland jazz luminary, composer and multi-instrumentalist Finn Scholes (Carnivorous Plant Society, Barrow Brass Band), they are a tight and progressive jazz-funk outfit, who rehearse and jam regularly, pushing boundaries and winning a number of awards across successive appearances at the Tauranga National Youth Jazz Festival, including:
Best first year performance (2014)
Most outstanding tumpet/flugel player (2014, 2016)
Best performance of a New Zealand composition (2016)
Most outstanding pianist (2016)
The quintet is at their best best performing in a relaxed setting and always make the most of their chance to stretch out at Hallertau.
Good Vibes
Live at Hallertau, Sunday, August 14, 1.30pm - part of Hallertau's Month-of-Sundays series in August
