Killergrams are an alternative blues/country band, based in Dunedin, NZ. They are currently embarking on a short spring mini-tour this October and are performing a set of new, more brooding, relaxed music and also some older songs from last years release, So In The Night - EP.
Starting off at The Sherwood, Queenstown, and Whitehouse, Wanaka, with the very talented Mr Matt Langley and Paul Shipman (and Band). Followed by shows in Christchurch, Kairkoura and Dunedin with Melbourne-based musician Tom Lee-Richards and the fantastic Hana Fahy.
Matt Langley is a Dunedin based APRA award winning and critically acclaimed singer-songwriter/acoustic troubadour.
Matt continues to resist easy categorisation but has drawn comparisons to Elliot Smith, Jeff Tweedy, Chris Isaak, Grant Lee Phillips, Jeff Buckley and Harry Nilsson among others. Langley’s song writing draws on a wide range of influences from the folk, pop, balladry and country traditions to create songs that have a unique and poetic lyrical bent as well as an insightful and revelatory turnabout of the commonplace.
He recently collaborated on a suite of songs with renowned New Zealand poet and author Brian Turner called ‘Ladders of Rain’. Matt can usually be spotted walking around the Otago Peninsula, perhaps looking a little lost but in actual fact scrawling ideas and lyrics in his notebook.
Paul Shipman is a New Zealand based but Scottish born acoustic singer-songwriter. His alt-folk songs speak of heartbreak, discovery and learning. Influences like Dustin Tebbut, Gregory Alan Isakov and Ben Howard have helped shape this songwriter's musical brain.
