On the 15th of September at The Wine Cellar, Dead Little Penny, Lubin Rains (The Vietnam War), and USA-based singer-songwriter Christina Gurrola, will come together for an evening of alt-country, Americana, indie, and Laurel Canyon inspired folk.
DEAD LITTLE PENNY
The complete band experience of front woman Hayley Smith's sarcastic and butally honest song writing that takes no prisoners and leaves her nowhere to hide.
Often, her songs can be sensitive and heart-breaking, taking you on a journey to your deepest and darkest corners, then suddenly lauching into punchy rockabilly skiffle.
She'll be accompanied by Rodney Fisher (Goodshirt) on lead guitar/backing vocals, bassist Pete Thornley, and drummer Simon Buxton.
This will likely be the band's last performance before they start recording their second EP.
LUBIN RAINS
Known as the singer of The Vietnam War, Lubin has recently come out of hiding and is performing again, showcasing his fragile and timeless song writing style, with a wayward and intoxicating country flavour.
His weary tales are woven with country-folk tones reminiscent of Neil Young, performing as a trio for the evening with other members of Auckland's first real country rebels, The Vietnam War.
CHRISTINA GURROLA (USA)
Hailing from El Paso, Texas, this indie songstress will join the bill for one night only at The Wine Cellar.
Known for her soft and soothing vocals, which at times becomes bewitchingly melancholy, are accompanied by raw guitar licks and lyrics that switch between English and Spanish. Through her songs, Christina often gives glimpses into her take on life, love, and finding beauty in the mundane.
