“What feminine part of yourself did you have to destroy in order to survive in this world' At what point does femininity become synonymous with apology' Who hurt the people who hurt you' Darkmatter's Alok Vaid-Menon is trying to figure it out.”

Alok Vaid-Menon is an internationally acclaimed nonbinary writer, educator, performance artist and public speaker, based in New York City. Join us for an evening of readings, video, sound and performance as Alok performs alongside local artists and writers:

Please note, we are asking for a small koha donation on the door to fundraise for InsideOUT, an incredible organisation who work to make Aotearoa a safe(r) place for young people of diverse genders and sexualities.

All ages are welcome, there will be some explicit language and alcohol will be served at this event. Women's Refuge New Zealand and Wellington Rape Crisis will be present to offer support, in case anyone feels triggered in any way.

This event is part of a series of pop up exhibitions taking place during 28 September - 16 October, organised by JPEG2000 and Kollektiv Gallery as part of the Lokal Stories residency and Cyber Nectar project.
