The Last New Years Eve at the Kings Arms Tavern
Bernie Griffen and the Thin Men : Blues-folk man Bernie Griffen with musician-poet Kirsten Warner are electrifying. Griffen draws from a deep well - inside himself and within folk and Americana traditions. He dominates with his big personality, drawing you in with a wry smile and wink, delivering memorable songs of loss, longing and redemption. Kirsten Warner’s character and presence can light up a room, whether performing her poems or songs. Firmly alongside Bernie Griffen as his life and musical partner, the slightly fragile, courageous delicacy of Kirsten’s voice pairs beautifully with Bernie’s commanding delivery and their two guitars . This New Years Eve they are joined by The Thin Men , Tony Daunt (Bass) and Chris Townsend (Drums)
The Remarkables : The Remarkables are an acoustic bluegrass-country-jazz-swing band, not to be confused with the mountain range miles from our home base in Auckland. Never heard of that bluegrass-country-jazz-swing Neither had we until we tried it, but when we blended it all together we liked what we heard. We are Neil Finlay on guitar and harmonica, Bryan Christianson on banjo, Garry Trotman on bass and Pete Parnham on lead and slide guitars- and these days we all sing a bit.
Durty Murdur : Durty Murdur is the two-piece outsider music collaboration of Andy Millar on guitar and lead vocals, and Martin (Robot-Man) Horspool on percussion and vocals. The pair construct and personalise their own instruments to belt out their unique, low-fi blend of durty blues and manic rockabilly.
Rough Mix : Ado Greshoff (guitar and vox) , Sean Rundle (Drums) , Murray Savidan (Bass) , Wayne Gillies (Guitar and Vox) , Andy Martin (Keyboards).
