The acute lyricism and expansive guitar tones of Francisca Griffin (Look Blue Go Purple) will fill Dunedin's None Gallery in anticipation of her impending solo release 'the spaces between'. Songs pulled from the gravity of living. Personal estuaries. Joined by Mick Elborado (Terminals, Negative Nancies) and Gabriel Griffin (Sewage), this all new line up provides a rhythmic network that Francisca weaves her way through in the sparse, magnetic way that defines her sound.
Terrified is the amorphous output of Eliana Gray (Certainty) and Nikolai Sim (Kolya, Élan Vital). Their sonic landscape shifts from the shadows of Appalachian folk put through a distortion pedal to gazey soundscapes soaked in sadness and want. For this evening they will be joined on violin and vocals by Ro Rushton-Green (Sewage, Certainty).
Improvised and enigmatic, Richard Maybe's Passion For Nature (Tess Mackay & Emilie Smith, both of Negative Nancies) continue to play with and push the boundaries of sound. Equal parts noise-scape and glistening synth-wave, with a fluidity and connection that lifts and sways but never falls.
