Hitting the road this April are Albi and The Wolves, Ben Dixon and Graeme James for a whirlwind tour through Auckland, New Plymouth and Wellington.
If youre down for a boogie any night of the week, Albi and The Wolves could just be your new favourite band. Hailing from the streets of Auckland, the energetic three-piece have thrilled audiences around New Zealand with their fresh take on gypsy folk, bluegrass and rip-roaring country. Their beautiful debut album ‘One Eye Open’ was released last December to great acclaim and has captured the hearts of many around the country.
Armed with a loop pedal, one man band extraordinaire Graeme James layers electric violin, guitar, ukulele, bass, beatboxing and vocals to craft his own brand of foot-stomping folk music. Starting off busking on the streets of Wellington five years ago, he released his debut original album News From Nowhere late last year. The album has since been nominated for the NZ Music Awards Folk Album of the year and has been streamed over two million times on Spotify. Hot on the heels of a string of sold out shows, his captivating live performance is not to be missed.
Joining these two acts is up and coming singer-songwriter, Ben Dixon. Much like the opportunity shops of the town from which he hails, Ben is a gem waiting to be found. Ben has been described as cross between Jeff Buckley and Lawrence Arabia and his songs about everyday life are sure to charm. Dixons latest EP Some People will be released on this tour, during a special night at The Fourth Wall in New Plymouth.
