An exquisite, uniquely New Zealand take on the North American jazz tradition
This artistic ensemble will perform a suite of original jazz pieces from their upcoming album Secret Islands. Their deeply unique and soulful sound, originated by Jim Langabeer and developed by the ensemble over the past two years, effortlessly assimilates the North American jazz tradition into an Aotearoa New Zealand context.
Expect haunting multi-phonic saxophone duets, Taonga Puoro, luscious grooves, sonically daring antics and the exquisite musicianship of some of New Zealand's most vibrant musicians.
Featuring Jim Langabeer (tenor saxophone, flute and Taonga Puoro), Roger Manins (alto sax), Chris O'Connor (drums and percussion), Rosie Langabeer (piano) and Paul Dyne (double bass).
