DEEP FOREST & GAUDI

Music innovators DEEP FOREST & GAUDI joined forces for the creation of their superb collaborative album ‘CIRCUITS’ (out soon) and a brand new live show together.
Grammy Award’s winner DEEP FOREST and worldwide acclaimed Dub producer GAUDI, with their individual careers spanning over the last three decades pioneered the world-music scene back in the 90s, DEEP FOREST with the albums ‘Deep Forest’ and ‘Boheme’ (Sony Music) and GAUDI with ‘Earthbound’ (Bustin Loose) and ‘Bass, Sweat & Tears’ (Interchill). In the course of the years they both amassed a stunning collection of originals, albums, remixes and chart positions worldwide.
The guys met a few years back, on tour in India, where they shared stages, shared deep emotions, contributed with each other music on the production of beautiful remixes: DEEP FOREST produced “Spiritual Orphans” for GAUDI and GAUDI produced “Dub Africa” and “Sing With The Birds” for DEEP FOREST, they also shared their passion for modular synthesizers, for classical music and for avant-garde sound experimentation.

Lets put it simple, those guys know how to deliver hi-standard quality music!
For this unique tour DEEP FOREST & GAUDI will perform brand new arrangements of their major hits, played LIVE by the duo, using analogue vintage synthesizers mixed with modern technology and joined on stage by Senegalese bass player extraordinaire Alune Wade.
A live concert not to be missed!

DEEP FOREST (France):

Deep Forest’s story began in the early 90s when musicians Eric Mouquet and Michel Sanchez first met, experimenting with ethnic music using their own original sound approach. Their albums have sold over 10 million copies in total. Deep Forest creates a new kind of world music, adding electronic sonorities, been described as “ethno-introspective ambient world music”.

In 1994 Deep Forest were nominated for a Grammy Award in the category for Best World Music Album, and in 1995 they won the prestigious Award for the album Boheme (first French band to win a Grammy Award). The band also became World Music Awards Winner for accomplishing the highest world sales as a French group.

From 1996 to 2002 Deep Forest released 4 more albums on Sony Music, then in 2003 Eric Mouquet collaborated with multi-million selling singer Josh Groban for his two albums ‘Closer’ and ‘Awake’ (which contains the song “Machine’, featuring the unmistakable electric piano played by jazz-legend Herbie

Hancock).

In 2008 Deep Forest produced and released ‘Deep Brasil’, a collaborative album with Brazilian artist Flavio Dell Isola. It was also the launch of Eric’s own label imprint Deep Projects.

In 2012 Deep Forest Collaborates with the legendary Joe Zawinul’s band “Syndicate” on the album “Files under Zawinul”. Eric also composed and produced tracks for drummer extraordinaire Paco Sery for his album ‘La vraie Vi’.

In 2013 Deep Forest released the album ‘Deep Africa’, a spiritual and rhythmic mélange of African chanting, percussion and sounds of nature, featuring artists such as: Lokua Kanza, Blick Bassy, Olyza, Wasis Diop, Zama Magudulela, Dany de Mouataba.

The following year, ‘Deep India’ was released, in collaboration with India’s pride Santoor player Rahul Sharma, eight new compositions that capture the rhythms of folk melodies from across the country, where each track received the special ‘Deep Forest’ treatment. The music draws inspiration from ethnic folk songs rooted within the regions of Jammu, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, North East and South India among others. Deep Africa sifts like sand through the continent’s vast landscape of sound, character, expression and timeless emotion while subtly enveloping it in Mouquet’s unique layers of sound.

GAUDI (UK):

Internationally respected music producer / solo artist Gaudi, with around 2.500 live concerts performed in his three decades of career from festival main stages to slick city clubs and theaters, with his formula of ‘21st Century one-man band’ has rightly earned his reputation as an incredible multi-instrumentalist and his place on the ‘must-see-live’ list. In his live performances he delights his audiences playing the theremin, analogue synthesizers, vocoder, tape echoes, piano, with live dub vocals through his much treasured analogue equipment.

There’s no easy way to encapsulate Gaudi’s vast body of work, in the last three decades has been shattering genre barriers, pioneering world-music, electronic-dub and reggae music, amassing a stunning collection of originals, albums, collaborations, remixes and productions, working with and for artists such as: The Orb, Simple Minds, Lee Scratch Perry, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Trentemoller, Trilok Gurtu, Lamb, Sizzla, Michael Stype (from REM), Bob Marley, Shpongle, Beats Antique, Michael Franti, Dub FX, Balkan Beat Box, Youth, Dub Pistols, Michael Rose, Banco De Gaia, Grandmaster Flash, The Beat, Barrington Levy, Afrika Bambaataa, Bill Laswell to name but a few.

Regularly on tour worldwide, Gaudi has major establishments with sold-out tours in the USA, Canada, Latin America, Japan, Europe, Australia, Russia, India and of course Europe where he is based.
