On Saturday June 10th, Artworks Theatre gets handed over to the kids of Waiheke. From high noon until 6 pm, the stage will be thumping with some of the best teen bands from Auckland and Waiheke. In between the bands will be performances by local young singer-songwriters and DJ's from Waiheke High and MAINZ.
As a special treat, NZ's up-and-coming Openside will take the stage with their spiky pop punk and featuring the amazing Possum Plows (vocals), PJ Shepherd (guitar), Harry Carter (bass) and George Powell (drums). They have an incredible sound, and are fresh from supporting sold-out shows for Ellie Goulding, Twenty-One Pilots, Melanie Martinez, and All-Time Low. Their single, Letting it Out, reached Number 1 on the NZ Spotify viral charts, and their debut EP, Push Back, is all over NZ radio charts and NZ on Air.
This will be an epic family day, and the beginning of a large musical adventure for Waiheke. Make sure you come and support it and have a dance with your kids (unless you have teenagers; then you will probably just be asked to taxi them there and wait out in the cold so you don't embarrass them!! But don't worry, the Artworks crew will have a nice adults' social area for you out in the bar).
