Get ready to dance the night away with two of Wellington's funkiest Instrumentalists/DJs, Uncle Silverback and Ed Zuccollo
1 set each then one massive collab set
Ed Zuccollo
In his solo show, you’ll be taken on a dynamic journey from energetic synth beats to lush ambient soundscapes, to thick funky grooves, and even the odd rap - in which you may be asked for assistance. Ed has a relaxed and charming demeanour, interspersing entertaining chat throughout the set, while his skill on the 70s Minimoog synthesizer always impresses crowds. He uses a sampler to bring you the music he has crafted in his studio, a variety of vintage keyboards, and a talkbox.
Uncle Silverback
In his solo live show Uncle Silverback (aka Gareth Thompson Darling) combines lush layers of trombone with drum breaks lifted from funk records, live bass playing and turntablism to create a fusion of hip hop and jazz unlike anything seen or heard before.
Since arriving in Wellington in late 2010, Uncle Silverback has become a familiar face to local music lovers, tearing up the trombone for Newtown Rocksteady, Niko Ne Zna, Brockaflower and Tāwhiri Funk. His turntable skills and sizeable collection of funk and hip hop records have also scored him regular DJ sets all over town.
