Jason Greenhalgh (Q-Project) and Paul Smith (Spinback) first met in 1987 brought together through a mutual love of hip-hop music. Over the coming years, the pair developed a deep appreciation for Techno and Dance music at the start of its worldwide takeover. By 1991, Spinback was an established DJ, gracing the decks at events week in week out, including the world famous “Universe”. Q-Project entered the studio too, with his first release Freestyle Fanatic.
Their first label, Legend Records was launched with Q-Project’s highly acclaimed Champion Sound in 1992. It took their profile to new heights, and it remains one of the most influential tunes of its time and generation this was swiftly followed by the start of their early recording career together under the name Funky Technicians ... and so the unstoppable collaboration had begun.
In 1997, the well-established pair launched the Computer Integrated Audio (C.I.A) label and the alias Total Science, was born. Over the coming years, Total Science had releases on all the major D&B labels including Metalheadz, Good Looking, Moving Shadow, Hospital, Tru Playaz, 31 Records (Doc Scott), Reinforced, Soul:r, Shogun Audio to name but a few, as well as releases under their own C.I.A. and various other imprints.
Total Science/ Q-Project have release 4 albums, however, the actual number of singles and EP’s the pair have released is currently an unknown quantity. Their relentless yearning to create music and dogged approach denotes there are just too many to mention!

As DJ’s Total Science have been touring globally for over a decade, regularly requested and in demand from the USA, Australia, New Zealand & Japan to the present day. They have a strong presence and dedicated following across the whole of Europe and in the UK, playing in all major regions and cities and regularly listed at top London venues.
In recent times Total Science have collaborated with a few select artists, most recognised is their work with Brazilian wonder kid S.P.Y. The pair became a threesome sharing ideas and studio space, and magic was made, the defining moments of this ultimate link-up being “Gangsta”, “Testimony (feat Riya ) ”, “Legion”, “Venus Prime”, and “Ghostrider”, & more recently on S.P.Y's second album Back to Basics which they were present on 4 tracks . Their ongoing collaboration with vocalist Riya (Laura Pacheco) over the years has resulted in many appearances and Top Ten status with tracks Redlines Piano Funk & See Your Face the title track from their 2013 EP on Shogun Audio . Other notable projects include the impressive, Another Time (featuring Grimm) on Spearhead Various output on Shogun Audio including Positive Vibrations “, the massive Scatter from the Friction Verses series, two tracks on Riya's album for Spearhead (one of which Mixmag also premiered) and a Top 10 collaboration with Quadrant & Iris on C.I.A
In 2016, the duo have already released ‘Found A Reason Why’ a collaboration with FD which appeared on their own CIA Records imprint. They will be returning to their second home, Goldie’s Metalheadz this year with the 'Notes of Blue EP' and on Dispatch (for a track with Nymfo) It’s also CIA’s 20th birthday this year so they have worked on a Various Artist album which will feature long time players Calibre, Break, S.P.Y., Digital & Spirit to name a few. Collaborations are also in the works with Mako, DLR, Digital & Spirit, Kaiju, Onemind to name a few, so expect a lot more from the duo over the coming months.

It's 2017 and Survival is releasing his 5th and highly anticipated LP (His 3rd on Dispatch Recordings). The album (Take It Back) showcases the funk and

groove that Steve has carved out over the years and highlights exactly why he is always at the forefront of modern cutting edge music. This is further testament to the fact that he is equally at home as a solo artist or working with others. The album features long established collabs with artists such as Break, Ant TC1, Codebreaker, Naomi Pryor & Eleanor Higgins.
A recent example of his ability to work closely with others is a current partnership with Script as SCAR that has seen many original releases across all Metalheadz labels such as the “Caged EP”, as well as remixes such as Rufige Kru’s “Dark Rider” which charted in the top 75 of the national charts. SCAR presented their debut Album “The Orkyd Project” in July 2016 on Goldie’s Metalheadz label to worldwide acclaim. This relationship continues with one of the founding labels of Drum & Bass into 2017 and beyond with several releases scheduled, and they are currently working on their second SCAR artist album. Over the years their consistent output with another highly renown label in DnB, Dispatch Recordings, has seen many successful releases more pencilled in for this year and next.
This stems form an ongoing relationship that Survival has built up over the past decade or more with Ant TC1 who owns the label. It has seen over a quarter of the Dispatch Recordings back catalogue coming directly from him as a solo artist, or with others as collaborative projects with the likes of well-
established musicians such as Zero T, Break, DLR, Silent Witness and Script.
One of those major partnerships was with Silent Witness and proved to be a huge success on the label. This also went on to bear the fruits of several 12” singles and also one of Drum & Bass’s biggest underground albums of 2013 “In From The Wild“, which also featured artists such as Klute, Cern & Submotion Orchestra lead singer Ruby Wood.
In fact, Steve “Survival” Kielty has been involved in both producing and engineering music since the inception of Drum n Bass more than 2 decades ago, when he kicked off his musical career as a studio engineer at Basement Studios in Watford. Around this time, he paired up with Roy McCabe under the guises of Akustic Research/Banaczech and released tunes on two very prolific labels of their time, Vinyl Addiction and Partisan Recordings between 1995 and 2003.
From there he took a short break from producing and worked as a Studio Manger for West Row studios until 2005 when he re-emerged as a solo artist

under the alias Survival. Releases on pioneering labels “Inperspective Records” and DJ Bailey’s “Intasound” sent out a clear message that Survival is an artist to be taken very seriously, a distinctive style and studio skills earned from years working in pro studios, created a high demand for his music and
also his DJing.
In 2008, when his involvement in the music was 15 years deep, Survival released his very first album on D Bridge’s “Exit Records”, which gained him widespread international critical acclaim and positioned Survival as one of the leading lights in Drum & Bass.
With a plethora of well received releases since that first album on labels including Dispatch Recordings, Creative Source, Exit Records, DNAudio, Quarantine, Play Music and Shogun Audio, plus his own label called Audio Tactics, Survival's deep, organic sound has rapidly earned him a reputation as one of the true craftsmen of modern Drum And Bass.

MIKAL

The Bristol based producer and DJ is known for his stand out drum & bass tracks and sets with the kind of dark, uncompromising production and delivery reminiscent of early jungle with all the modern precision, polish and execution expected of a Headz artist. Mixmag have frequently championed his work, naming him 'producer to watch.' He's already released an impressive back catalogue on Friction's SGN: LTD, Skream's Disfigured Dubz and Break's Symmetry. Consistently featured in the Fabric Live Cd series, mixes and Drum and Bass Arena compilations, remixing most recently Cause4Concern's 'Never Acid Again' and 'Night Gasp.' Whilst completing his own album, he's also found time to mix Asian Dub Foundation's latest album 'More Signal, More Noise' amongst other artists. Going on to work with the band to engineer their soundtrack for George Lucas' 'THX1138' which they performed live to the film screenings both in Brooklyn NYC, the Barbican in London with a further UK tour. Since signing to Metalheadz, Mikal has been included in their Genesis EP series, produced two singles and a killer five track EP, 'Immaterial' that became another Mixmag 'release of the month.'

The 'Wilderness' album sees many high calibre artists featured. Sophie Barker better known for her work with Zero 7 and Groove Armada lends her distinctive voice for 'Patterns.' That DJ Mag call a mix of crisp classic breaks, warped sounds and a beautifully haunting vocal. Mikal works with good friend and long time collaborator, Break on yet another destroyer stand-out track 'Musical Rush' that Drum and Bass Arena hail as a collab made in D&B heaven. Mancunian stalwart and Bass Don, Chimpo steps up to the mic to deliver 'Brain Matter' and heavyweight producer and Cyberfunk label owner Xtrah also features for 'At The Controls.' RIOT from Portuguese supergroup Buraka Som Sistema joins him for 'Segunda' the second track of their exciting DnB/Zouk collaborative project to be released by Metalheadz.

It's best to let Goldie have the final word. When I signed him I knew the potential he had in him - this album is the full realisation of that potential. He's worked very hard at perfecting his craft and I'm very happy to hear it. His inversion of DnB culture has always excited me, the dub element is something that resonates with me as a missing part to the puzzle in the Headz camp After almost a year in seclusion, Mikal finally returns to his rightful place, behind the decks.

SURVIVAL has a musical career spanning almost 20 years, originally as a studio engineer from 1993 and then under a number of aliases, the masterful drum & bass craftsman SURVIVAL has expertly shaped his personal sound. Building up a formidable back catalogue, with regular releases on Dispatch, Symmetry, Critical, Exit, Shogun, DNAudio & Quarantine, Survival has also generated a spate of brilliant solo and collaborative releases with Silent Witness, Alix Perez & Octane & DLR for his own label, Audio Tactics

SCRIPT also has been involved in Drum and Bass since its formative years. Being around a close circle of friends who were already making waves in the scene, you would find him Djing at many events under different pseudonyms. SCRIPT has a back catalogue including releases with Dispatch, Critical, CIA, Mute8 & Footprints and has worked with the likes of Zero T, FD & Crystl.

Friends for many years with similar tastes in music, their paths began to cross regularly as both were releasing music on the same labels, so in 2013 they decided to collaborate on a tune. Born out of that first session was a piece of music called 'When' which was eagerly requested by Metalheadz to appear on the  Platinum Breakz 4 album.
SCAR had arrived.
Since their first release on that seminal album SCAR have gone on to release regularly to high acclaim on Dispatch, Metalheadz, Integral & Horizons.
They regularly are booked at such nightclubs like Fabric and their DJ sets are in high demand.
With their latest release of the 'Caged EP' on Metalheadz and the remix of Goldie's Rufige Kru 'Dark Rider' just around the corner, plus their debut album on Metalheadz in the first half of 2016, SCAR and their an instantly recognisable production sound are most definitely ones  to watch for the foreseeable future.
