UPDATE: DUCKLINGMONSTER PERFORMS KRAUS!
Unfortunately Kraus has to have an operation which has just been scheduled for the week before this concert, so he won't be able to come to Wellington for this event. Luckily his good friend and collaborator, Ducklingmonster (aka Beth Dawson), is going to come down to Wellington in his place, and perform the live poolside set which will be a remix of Kraus' 'Seahorse Wedding' as well as incorporating her own work. SATURDAY NOV 5th: UNDERWATER CONCERT @ KILBIRNIE POOL
Kraus will perform poolside at the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre in Kilbirnie, while the submerged audience listens underwater through the specialised underwater speaker system of the Wellington Syncronised Swimmers Association. BYO snorkel device - a real snorkel, or a clean tube of some sort will do! And don't forget your togs and towel. Numbers to this event are strictly limited.
LOCATION: WELLINGTON REGIONAL AQUATIC CENTRE, KILBIRNIE.
NOTE: Use the hydrotherapy pool entrance that is accessed via the Evans Bay Parade driveway around the back of the main pool.
Please arrive at 6:30pm to have time to change and jump in the pool. Kraus will perform bang on 7pm. The concert will go for 60 minutes. Afterwards there will be tea in the reception area.

'Seahorse Wedding' by Kraus
Commissioned by Pyramid Club and composed by Kraus over several months during 2022, 'Seahorse Wedding' is a 60 minute 'concept album' suite of electronic sounds. Using modular synths, Kraus' composition features beautiful bubble-like layers of floating melodies and whirlpools of swirling rhythms.
Kraus, who composed the piece specifically for isolated listening in Float Well's specially designed float tanks, travelled to Pōneke for several research float trips while creating the piece. He says the physical experience in the float tank is not one of floating so much as suspension in a void, sometimes to the point of feeling absolutely fixed at the centre of the universe. Floating can be an intense experience, so I wanted this music to be soothing and light. Hence the fantasy theme of a 'Seahorse Wedding', in a sandcastle abbey, with a crustacean celebrant, and a wedding-reception band of dolphins.
To celebrate the launch of this new work and to give more people the opportunity to experience Kraus' underwater music, Pyramid Club is producing this one-off LIVE UNDERWATER CONCERT at KILBIRNIE POOL on Saturday 5th November.
