Te Tokotoru Live At Paisley Stage with tautoko from Te Whānau Puoro (Smokefree Tangata Beats Winners)
Te Tokotoru is a hard rock power trio built around Māori tikanga. The group features Arahi best known for his solo projects and debut EP “Revelator” (2022) produced by Dave Kahn at Roundhead Studios, and with a recent nomination in the top 20 for the 2023 APRA Silver Scroll. William Devine, an absolute wizard on bass has played with the remarkable Fane Flaws and funk soul boogie-dub legends Tropical Downbeat Orchestra. And the dart master Iraia Whakamoe on drums, is best known as one third of swamp-stomping blues trio, The Nudge, and also has featured as a long time member of Fly My Pretties.
Te Whānau Puoro (Flaxmere College and Tamatea High School) won first place in the national finals of Smokefree Tangata Beats 2023.
“We just want to get our message across that our generation, this generation, we are still aware of the impacts of what colonisation and land confiscation has upon us. We just want people to know that we are still here, and we will forever be here,”
